Small Merchants believed American Express offered little value to their business. Amex needed to show these small merchants the love, big time.
WE THOUGHT BIG AND CREATED SHOP SMALL
A special weekend where customers can support smaller merchants by shopping small. To drive footfall we rewarded American Express cardholders with a £5 credit for spending £10 or over, in any participating business. Targeted DM and emails were created, along with a suite of assets. Merchant engagement in American Express shot up. There was 5X more traffic to the website, with page views up by 50%. Registrations for following year’s Shop Small campaign went up by 280%.
